By Invitation Only

Every aspect of the wedding preparation plays an important role in the build up and ANTICIPATION of your day. I stumbled across IJORERE The Invitation.

Architect by day, Invitation Extraordinaire by night, IJORERE The Invitation is one of many expressions of Ola-Tokunbo’s creativity & appreciation for what she views as Art. With her production team passionately working on beautifully hand-made earth-friendly specialties, her contemporary invitations celebrate a new innovative culture of inter-diversity with influences of her Nigerian-American background.

Her most celebrated design & accomplishments includes her IJORERE Signature wooden box© enclosures and her upcoming posh baby papery, IJOBABY. IJORERE renews the appreciation of receiving “The Invitation” and continuously create exquisite Innovative designs guests will rave about for years to come.

Pronounced E-Jaw-Ray-Ray and derived from a Yoruba-Nigerian meaning, Ijo Rere is actually two words made one. ‘Ijo’ means Day and ‘Rere’ means Grand. Ijorere sums up how your special occasion should be…A day that is Grand.

Imagine getting one of these invites in the mail!!

Be Inspired

As an entrepreneur I’m always looking for inspirational stories of other bold and aspiring business owners.  This story spoke to me because Jacqueline Nwobu, along with her husband Chike Nwobu started, Munaluchi Bridal a magazine for BRIDES of color.

The bi-annual luxury magazine is carried in the United States, Nigeria and The United Kingdom and is sold in all Target stores – quite a feat for a publication that launched only a year and a half ago.

Watch below as Jacqueline talks about starting her business and the many challenges she overcame.

Always A Bridesmaid

Before becoming a bride, I’m sure most, if not ALL of us have been bridesmaids!!!  With that said, I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see this movie!!  It comes out today!!!

BRIDESMAIDS….the trailer is hilarious!!  Finally a movie for the chosen women in a brides life who really want to be there for their bestfriend but would rather not deal with the expenses, matching hairstyles, matching dresses and matching shoes, drama, catfights,  and feelings of “when will it be my turn?”

I want to call up my fellow bridemaids (from all the weddings I’ve been in), tell them to put on the craziest bridesmaids dress they’ve ever had to wear and let's all go to movies!!!!  LOLOL!! : )

Brides, why not take your Ladies of Honor for a girls night out and have some laughs!!
Bridesmaids what’s the most dramatic experience you’ve had as a bridesmaid?

Come back and tell me if you enjoyed the movie!!

P.S...If you don't want to get caught up in the shower/bachelorette planning...Events by MOJA does that too!!!

Ain’t Nothing Like the Royal Thing…

I can't lie, I've been watching every show on WEDD Central and TLC about the royal couple.

Every bride dreams of being a princess on her wedding day and as the wedding coordinator, that’s our goal…..

We are a couple hours away from the wedding of the century. Prince William and Kate Middleton will exchange vows on Friday April 29, 2011.  I can’t help but wonder what is going through Kate’s mind as we speak….is she experiencing the typical Bride’s anxieties (multiplied by a million due to the hosts of people that will be watching)??

Pop Quiz

Can you guess my favorite part of  a wedding?

a.   the bride

b.  the ceremony

c.   the groom

d.  the flowers

e.   all of the above

Answer  c.  My favorite part is when the doors open, and the groom takes his first look at his bride as she begins her walk down the aisle. At that moment, I’m on my tippy toes looking over the guests (who are focused on the bride) and I’m staring at groom…tissue in hand….reading the emotions on his face that he thought he could hide.  Here are a view shots of the groom (hey…it’s their day too)!!   What do you think?  What’s your favorite part of a wedding??
